After years of using
This is my review of the bathmate x 40 penis pump which I have been using for several years now. I was in my early 50s when I bought it mainly with the aim of improving my erection, the pump is easy to use and well made. And in my experience has increased the size of my penis, I have gained an inch and a half in lenth but the girth is where I have really noticed an increase. I have gone for several months on occasions without using it, and haven't really noticed any loss in size, I dont however think it has made any difference to the strenth of my errection. The pump is very easy to use, fill it with water and bring it upwards over your penis to make contact with your body you then pull the body of the pump towards you pumping out water, with each pump you feel the suction on your penis increase. I followed the instructions that came with the pump and kept to them for the first year. I found being shaven helps get a good seal meaning I can use the pump out of the shower. I am as happy with the product today as the day I bought it, and if it was to fail would buy another one
Definitely works, but broke after a few weeks use
I bought the bathmate a few years ago, tried it and couldn’t figure it out, so left it in the cupboard for years.
Then the other day I watched a YouTube vid explaining how to use it so decided to give it another go.
It took a few tries to get the hang of it and but then when I finally did get it right, I overdid it and my cock was super swollen! Haha
After a few more attempts I found the sweet spot and I definitely noticed a difference especially in erection strengths and duration. Then after a week or two I felt thicker as well.
However after just three weeks use, it suddenly stopped sealing properly. Apparently it’s a really common problem, which for this price it definitely shouldn’t be. Unfortunately I had taken so long to use it properly, the damn thing it was also out of warranty. I won’t be spending the same money to replace it. In my opinion it’s too expensive to be that badly made.
Excellent quality and works well
This is a large device, and despite it saying 7-9 inches, if you are 7 inches (like myself) you should grab the size down. This one will still work well, but it is much larger and more cumbersome.
The water vacuum is excellent. I hardly get any edema build up or bruising compared to my old air pump.
If you are planning on using it in a shower, get the strap. It is annoying to hold up for 5 mins straight. It should really come with one by default, especially given how expensive this product is. Wouldn’t recommend buying the pump at full-price.

Recently upgraded from a HYDROMAX7 after using it for a while. Continuing to see great results, noticing I'm thicker during erections even without using this pump.
I usually pump every morning in the shower, and recommend using it with the shower strap to keep your hands free. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's definitely worth keeping yourself trimmed down there to get the best results when pumping.

Good but not ideal
This a well made piece of kit! A bit fiddly to use but once you get it on it stays where it should. The suction is a good overall suction, giving a good full pump to your penis. You do need to be on top of your grooming for this product, too much hair stops the suction from happening. I found the pump from this product to be more gentle than a standard (non water) penis pump.
Excellent product with noticeable effect
I've never really been that conscious about the size of my penis, it does a job, so I'm happy with it! It's only as I'm getting older I'm not so worried about the size of my penis, but more the quality of the erection, At first I tried other penis pumps, including the Tracey Cox one here on LH, but swiftly noticed it wasn't big enough (much to my own delight/annoyance). Enter the bathmate HYDROMAX 9. I hadn't heard of using water to act as a vacuum before this, but with reading it offers a more even pressure across the penisI was interested to try. Packaging Coming from LH, the actual delivery box was really good. In a giant plain cardboard box with the only marker being LH Trading, there's no way for any sneaky people to see what's inside. Even more than this, the product came in its own plain white box, ensuring complete discretion. Taking it out of that, the first thought I had was not that this was some luxurious product, but more 'this seems more suited to a gym product'. It's not a bad thing, but it just didn't click with me. Build Quality Thankfully, the packaging is such a minor thing. Taking it out of the box you swiftly realise this thing is MASSIVE. This is something you aren't going to be able to discreetly hide, trust me, I've tried (behind the sink, in the wardrobe, behind the bed), it is big and slightly heavy but it feels like a premium product. The inclusion of a personal ID that you can register on the bathmate website also ensures you have a genuine product. every part of it you get a sense of quality building, this is something that will last years. Using it To use the product, you flick the switch at the top to lock, fill it with water, place it over the penis, unlock and start pumping. It's a very easy thing to do, but it does have some practical difficulties. a) Trying to put your penis in it while standing in the shower is a bit of a contortionist act b) once attached, the sheer weight of both the unit itself and the water makes it difficult to keep on. This is minimised by two things, the first by vacuum seal, the second by the bathmate strap that is sold separately for £20. Either way, this product is much easier to use in the bath than in a shower (I guess its in the name). c) If using without the comfort ring (which I do due to it reducing the diameter, making it difficult to use), it can really pinch the skin around the penis and leave marks, and in one case nearly sucked my left teste in... Pumping the unit involves pushing it directly against your crotch, which forces water out the top. It's a simple thing to do and you do feel it work very quickly. Personally I no longer use the comfort ring as I find it more hassle and it reduces the diameter. You find a better pump without it, but at the expense of the unit leaving a more noticeable mark around your crotch. In terms of gains, you notice immediate gains when using the unit which last for 1-2h, depending on intensity, but I'm more impressed by the long term gains. I've been using this product on and off for about 20 months now in the shower, maybe 3 times a week- 5 min pump, 1 minute rest x 3 each session. I've gone from 7.2" erect to 7.6", my girth has gone from 5.25" to 6" (resulting in a worrying moment with the comfort ring and led to not using it!). You do notice the girth a lot quicker which makes sense. I wasn't expecting this level of increase, but I'm more than happy with them. In terms of quality of erections, I've noticed a massive difference, one that I think is worth the price of the product. I'm leaving this review now as I've moved onto the HydroXtreme series as the hand pump appeals to me more, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Hydromax to anyone considering it. It's a premium price but you do get a premium product that does what it intends to a high level.

Permanent gains confirmed
Used it daily for about 3months. 3 sessions for 10min in shower. Measured a permanent length increase of about 1.5cm and girth I have not meassured but the increase is definitely there. Bottom line is that it works as advertised. Tips: do it without the grey comfort ring. Do some helicopter swirls before to stretch the tissue. If you feel burning take it off to avoid tissue damage. Only buy this if you are incredibly strong
The "bellows" (the back section) on this product is so stiff that in order to use it as a pump you really need to be a body builder in order to use it and a pelvic bone build like a brick. The measurements are wrong as well. Try putting a tape measure against it and where the gauge shows as 6" its actually 7.5". Really bad
Six Month Gains
I'd never used any penis pumps before and after researching I settled on the X40 as my starting size was 7.5" long x 6.5" girth. I partly got it due to penis health as I take several medications that can affect my erections and my woman is a size queen. After six months of regular, 3 days a week use ... five minute at 3/4 suction then 3x five minute at full suction I now have a regular erection size of 8.3" x 7.5". My girl likes the extra, I like the extra and we have a lot of fun with the new me. If I pump directly before sex we enjoy my almost 9"x8+" erection that lasts several hours. As for penis health, my erections are big, rock hard and last for longer than my woman can sometimes handle ... the Energizer Bunny she calls me, from that old battery add ... A grown up bath toy
This isn't the first Bathmate I've owned and there are a few reasons why. Firstly, the quality of the product. Bathmate pumps are simply great, they give results and they last when looked after properly. Secondly, stupidity. Back when I had no idea if my penis was average or not I thought to myself that more couldn't be a bad thing, so I bought a Bathmate. A big one. The Goliath. Feeling pretty good right now... It arrived, I used it, I still felt pretty good; but, knowing what I know now, I didn't get the best out of it. Simply put gents, they make different sizes for a reason and the right size gives the right suction. Thirdly, growth. Yes, really. I moved from the Goliath to hydromax9 x30 (now the 7). This allowed me to get better vacuum pressure, increasing my width gains. Unfortunately, to get the best results you need to remove the comfort ring, but this meant that my penis would often come out of the bathmate looking like an accordion! The solution? Use Bathmate's calculator to work out I needed the x40 (now the 9). Very happy with this product, great vacuum, great results, convenient to use in the shower (with enough vacuum built up you don't even need the shower strap). Have been using this 5 days a week for several months now, combined with an air pump in the evenings. Have gone from 7.5"x5.5" to 7.75"x5.65 and when pumped up to 7.9"x6.2" depending on time spent pumping. My goal? 8"x6.5", so I'm getting close, but part of me still thinks about running out of space and heading back to the Goliath... Who knows, maybe not such a stupid first purchase after all.
Does the job
Bought this for my partner who is already quite big, but apparently bigger is always better. He found it quite easy to use in the shower. He felt more confident about himself after using and he was definitely bigger after. Long term, it probably doesn’t work, but short term it’s great. As soon as it arrived I couldn’t wait to try it out. I had previously read up on the best ways/ time periods to use it, and I’d recommend you do yourself. Anyway first time round using it and all I can say is the suction is immense, being overly keen I pumped the pressure a little to high initially but with an easy access valve on the top it was easily corrected. The 15 minutes passed and I removed bathmate. You definitely see some temporary gains straight of the bat with and increase in flaccid length and girth. I unfortunately don’t get round to using it regular enough but I can see possible permanent gains if used regular
A worthwhile investment
The x40 is for the bigger guy and probably not for anyone less than 7in in length to start with. My starting measurements were 8x5.5 which I would guess is the perfect starting fit for the device. The pump is easy to use in the bath at least (haven’t tried the shower strap). I tend to pump without the comfort insert as you get better suction although on occasion this can feel a little intense on your balls - here again the smaller your starting measurements the more of an issue this may be given the wide ness of the chamber. 20 mins gives a good temporary pump but as to whether results are permanent I’m kinda sorta reasonably sure this has helped me grow somewhat. I’m now 8.5 x 6 although progress feels slow. Fortunately while the measure finishes at 8.5 in you can comfortably pump beyond this length (I would imagine around 10in), there’s also plenty of room for girth and for 99.999999% of guys there’d be no need for the bigger brother...
Needs patience but works
Ive been using this for several months now so believe I can report fairly accurately on my findings. to start with, its quite a large item so that took me a little by surprise. Its easy enough to work but there is definitely a 'knack' to it - when I first started, it took me several attempts to get the lock right and for it to work with a nice seal instead of letting in air though with a bit of practice you can figure it out. I found that entering down into it in the shower and then letting it sit higher up works really well and you don't get that sucking your balls up into it feeling and it feels quite comfortable. I tend to also use it 2 days on, 1 day rest and although it says no longer than 15 minutes, I usually let it sit for 20 with a good 10 minutes of that maxed out. The printed ruler is very handy and lets you see your progress - In 6 months of regular use I've added an extra 1.5" in length and nearly half an inch in girth. I wasn't small to begin with and was already larger than 'the average' but this has felt utterly amazing. I took a photo diary and its actually really cool looking back through the photos to see how I've grown. I feel full, theres more feeling and my erections are harder and last longer. My OH says I now feel breathtakingly good, she comes quicker and with more intensity. So an expensive product but if you can be disciplined and use regularly and properly the results really are worth while!

I like to think of this as the male equivalent of a push-up bra. In my experience the results are not permanent however I am not as committed to using it as some other users. Tips for shower use: Trim area round base quite severely or shave smooth. If you find the valve lets air in gently cup a hand around the vent to form a little pool around the vent (without restricting water from exiting). This mimics use under water in a bath as intended. Go slow, this thing is safe if you are careful but bruising is not an attractive look.

This is a great quality pump and it does a good job of increasing the girth of my penis. I have yet to see any increase in the length but the girth growth is impressive. Worth every penny
I really laboured over buying the bathmate, the trickiest part for me was chosing which size! Before I bought this I was about 6.8 inches in erect length, and I had heard tales of people filling up the hercules, so I thought I would play it safe and get the slightly bigger X40. I bought the X40 from lovehoney 3 months before writing this review. I really wanted to use the bathmate over a longer period of time, and get to know the product before judging it. From the start, I got into a daily routine with the bathmate, in the shower, every morning. I had read shaving your pubic hair helps suction, so I did that too after the first few pumps and that helped to an extent. But after the first week, I was still struggling to find the best way to use it, I was constantly getting air leaks from the base, even if I applied lube to the suction pad. I'm sure everyones different, but personally this wasn't working out for me. I found the the best way was laying down in the bath, where I encountered my second issue. I don't have the time to have a bath every morning. Eventually after a couple of weeks I found my technique, I start in the shower and then move to my bedroom, where I can lay on my bed and get a good suction. Obviously I need a spare towel to soak up the excess water as it comes out the top, but it works best for me, and I can get a decent 20 minute workout a day doing it like this. Anyway, thats my experience so far. In terms of results I am really, really pleased. Like I said before, when I started I was about 6.8 inches erect and now, 3 months on, I measure at a round 8 inches erect. Best pump yet
I have used 2 other pumps and found them uncomfortable at times, this product is great, both my boyfriend and I use it and have already noticed increase in girth within a month of using it. It is quite expensive but to be honest it is built very well and is made to last, it also gives great results (for us anyway) and is worth it. I would have bought it before now if I knew before how great this product is. Takes a few attempts at getting used to applying the bathmate and using it in the shower is great, I would however recommend using in the bath at first till you get used to it then progress to the shower!

As good as expected
I got this after i outgrew the bathmate hercules. It is essentially like the herc yet bigger.it is definately more comfortable than its predecessor and i am certainly not going to outgrow this bad boy. I am not sure if the pressure is as much as 30% more than the herc and the increased size of chamber makes it more unwieldly n air bubbles are harder to avoid. I also like the dual measurement scale in both inches and cm. Overall it brilliant. I added 3cm with the hercules and look forward to seeing what the x40 can do long term
Absolutely fantastic
We received this as a tester item. We were surprised at the size of it and at the quality of it. It comes with the pump and a spare release valve. Hubby jumped straight in the bath a got to work! He said there was a worrying feeling of one of his testicles being sucked up inside and the base of it was digging into him. So the night after he tried it in the shower and said it was much easier to use, no digging in. No feeling of testicles being sucked up. I was extremely happy with the results and continue to be. It works 100 per cent
I used the bathmate Hercules everyday for about a month. I loved it and saw great results. Unfortunately my penis was touching the sides at full expansion so I wanted a bigger one. I contacted lovehoney were I purchased my Hercules from and they recommended the x40. I've been using the x40 for two weeks and its amazing.
