Better than the original still could be improved
I have had the original ion for a while and got the Ion 2 on sale for a good price. The shipping was quick and it arrived in a discrete package. I quickly opened it and checked it over. The box was not sealed and the directions said to wash it before use. So I washed it throughly and dried it off. It is quick and easy to wash and dry. Now it was time to charge it. The magnetic charger is a pain to keep attached while charging it doesn’t take much for it to fall off and this make it hard to put out of site while charging. The original has a docking station to charge it on which works better. After charging it for a couple of hours as recommended it was time to try it out I got lubbed up and turned it on and slide in. It turn on and then the smart silence activates and then I could not get it to work no matter how I position it on my shaft so I shut off the smart silence which is also a pain holding several buttons down at once. Once it got going it was very pleasurable. It is quieter than the original but it is still not silent or discreet on any setting over 3 or 4. It feels great once positioned on the frenulum and just stoking it just a small amount. The auto pilot is a nice feature and has 3 different levels and is very easy to change or turn off. After using several time the orgasms are great and the battery lasts a long time

I wanted to love it, but it wasn’t for me personally
As someone who already loves male vibrators, I was really excited to find a toy that adapts the design of clitoral suction vibrators for men. But after a few months of testing, I’ve got mixed feelings about the Ion, and I’m not sure I can recommend it.
This is an expensive toy, and I’m being a bit harsher because of that fact. For an RRP around £170 (although it’s frequently on offer for substantially less) you’d expect to be buying a real game-changer that would see very regular use, and my experience just hasn’t been that.
Firstly, on the packaging Arcwave absolutely outdid themselves, and then ruined it… The box the Ion comes in is really fancy, more resembling something like the box for a new iPhone model than a sex toy. However, the box and the toy itself was absolutely covered in some kind of dusty, plastic-y residue that needed a thorough scrubbing off.
As for the actual kit itself, you can’t fault Arcwave for the quality. The Ion feels weighty and well-constructed, with some nice features like a battery-level indicator. It seems really sturdy, and well made, like a premium toy for this price should.
When actually using the Ion I found it a little bit fiddly to turn on the first time but you get the hang of it pretty quick. Using lube is an absolute must, especially if you’re on the girthier side as you’ll struggle to get yourself in it.
As for the actual sensation of using the toy, it’s very powerful, and maybe it’s too much! I found it overstimulating and I only ever found myself using the lower setting or two. It’s pretty much guaranteed to make you cum fast, and not usable for edging.
Once turned on it’s VERY loud, to the point where I’d probably only use it when I know the neighbours are out. I’ve never felt that self-conscious about noise before using vibrators, but this thing is like an engine!

Shockingly good
This is among my favorite toys. It feels great just as a basic stroker, but the stimulation of the frenulum was insane. I wasn't ready. I couldn't believe such a seemingly simple concept could be so stimulating. It took a second to figure out how best to use it, but it was quick and so worth it.
The form factor is also great. It's really discrete. You rarely see toys that come with storage, let along something so nice. Cleaning is also about as quick and easy as it could possibly be.

The Arcwave Ion may be not be for everyone. In my personal opinion the toy shines the most when used on a lower setting over a longer period of time. Perfect for edging or together with prostate play. It's quite unique in that the vibrations are focused and that makes you able to control the sensations quite well. When used properly I have had great success and had quite an amazing time with it.
It is however quite loud and even though they have tried preventing continuous noise by with the Smart Silence feature, this feature more often than not does not work properly. Therefore I usually have this feature turned off. If you live in an apartment with thin walls or shared housing I would be careful using this toy as at any setting it gives off quite a lot of noise.
I have also had a case where the toy left some minor bruising after a long session, which did scare me a little bit. Therefore I would be careful the first couple of times as a precaution. Nothing to worry about, but nice to be aware.
The presentation of the toy is luxurious, both the packaging that it came with and the charging case for the toy itself are stunning. The charging case is a plain grey cylinder and does not stand out at all. The toy itself holds a charge quite well and I have never been worried about charging it, even when I haven't touched it in a while. Cleaning is also a breeze as you just twist off the silicone, wash it and put it back into the charging case. I dry it with a towel as well, but the rest of the moisture is taken care of by the charging case.
Simply the best
The Ion 2 arrived in the normal brown discreet package in a couple of days.
Unboxing revealed a really sturdy and premium looking package. The Ion 2 was well packed inside and includes the sub c charging cable and a nice neoprene zipper soft storage case. There is also a handy quick start guide on the inner box.
I gave it a couple of hours to charge and then started to familiarise myself with it.
The controls are a bit confusing until you get your head round it. When in smart mode you can’t get it to switch on until you have inserted your self into it.
The sleeve your penis goes in is very soft premium silicon material.
Size wise the sleeve is about 100mm long and 33mm in diameter. The material is stretchy enough to accommodate much bigger girths. I am just over 125mm long and 40mm diameter (toilet roll tube size) and it fits really well.
The sleeve is fairly stretchy but you won’t be able to slide in without lube.
There is an oval hole in the tube which would be lined up with your frenulum. I’m not circumcised I retracted my foreskin. Lubed the sleeve and slid in so my frenulum was covering the oval hole.
I got the Ion running in suction mode. That felt really nice. I can’t explain the sensation but it’s like nothing I’ve experienced before. Enormous pleasure without any stroking motion was completely different. The Ion made me want to pulse / spasm my penis which I started to do. I was already close to cuming, I switched on the vibration and within 10 seconds it was all over. I don’t think I lasted more than 2 minutes start to finish.

On first impressions, this product looks really good and seems high quality! It even comes with its own travel pouch! The design is simple and easy to use, with only 3 buttons. It still takes a bit of getting used to when switching between modes and autopilot, but once you've mastered it, it's a lot of fun!

The length of the canal and the position of the pleasure air sensor should be good enough for most people, however if you're on the shorter end then it may be an issue if the frenulum can't reach the sensor. There is an automatic mode where the masturbator automatically starts when it detects the penis, but this didn't always work for me if I powered it on after already inserting my member. It's not much of an issue though, as it's very easy to turn off the automatic mode.

This is my first time having used this type of toy and it did take a bit of getting used to the sensation and it’s unlike other toys I have used such as strokers.

Not as good as I hoped
Been eying up this for along time and got it on an amazing offer.
First of the packaging is super premium and quite a bit bigger than I expected. The little bottle of lube was a nice bonus, I’ve never tried Pjur lube before and was very impressed, will be definitely trying some of that in the future.
Getting the device out you can see why it has a steep price tag, it’s exceptionally well made, the casing to store and charge it is fantastic, it’s absolutely a 10/10 for this.

To aid the drying process, the canal of the sleeve is stored inside a cylinder containing a re-usable DryTech Stick (a silica stick). Once the Ion is placed inside the charging/storage unit, the silica stick removes any remaining moisture during charging and/or storage.

Innovative Concept, but Not for Everyone
The Arcwave Ion caught my attention because of its innovative approach to male pleasure with air pressure technology. While the idea is fantastic, I found that the type of stimulation it provides just isn’t quite for me. The “Pleasure Air” sensations didn’t deliver the level of satisfaction I was expecting, especially compared to traditional vibrations or other toys I’ve used.
That said, I’ve found a way to enjoy it more by using it more like a standard masturbator, and in that capacity, it does feel great. The materials are high-quality, and it’s relatively easy to clean once you get used to the process. The design is sleek and modern, which I really appreciate.

Good concept but lacked enthusiasm
So this toy was brought for myself as both myself and OH like to play together and when we're alone we have our time. I felt you got more satisfaction from a lower end cheaper toy than this, although I wouldnt say not to try as somethings just aren't for everyone. This took rather long to reach climax and it wasn't as good as I've had with cheaper models. I do like the design as its easy enough to maintain hold whilst in use but just unfortunately wasn't for me.
Disappointed, high price noisy
I was disappointed having paid a lot of $$$ for this item that it was so incredibly noisy. It does have a mode whereby it doesn't turn on until it senses you are in the right spot but once it's active it's by no means quiet. Frenulum Stimulation Worth a Try

I've bought a couple these in the past. Thought they were excellent but noisy. Had to buy a new one very recently. Underwhelming and pricey
I really wanted to like this, but it's basically a costly vibrator. The packaging is really nice, it looks like a solid product, but the sleeve will have to be replaced at some point so there's that ongoing cost built in. Good Not Great
I've only used this a few times. It's a good option but, so far, isn't as mind blowing as many of the other reviews suggest. The build quality is spot on, however there is a definite learning curve with this. If your used to a traditional stroker

I’ve been curious about the Arcwave Ion since I first heard about it but I have been put off by some mixed reviews. I read up on it and complaints generally seemed to focus on the fact it only works on the head of the penis and that it’s not the quietest of toys. During Black Friday sales I managed to purchase at a price that I felt was worth the risk and I’m glad I did as it’s probably my favourite masturbator.
So firstly, yes, it does work mainly on the head but for me personally that is exactly why it appealed. I find that stimulation of the head is my favourite sensation and often I use sleeves/fleshlights in such a way that I’m working the tip in and out of the opening. I’ve read people say that this works best when you move it very little and just stroke in very small movements. I’d definitely agree with that and it’s also great to push down on the silicone with your thumb just under the head at the back. I don't think I can ever go back to masturbating manually after using the Arcwave Ion.
When I first ordered the Arcwave Ion, I was apprehensive due to the mixed reviews. I was especially concerned by the complaints of noise and seemingly hit-or-miss nature of its use.
As others have noted the device can be loud, but it's really only apparent if you turn off the Smart Silence feature and remove your member. Even at its loudest, the sound of a shower running with a bathroom fan on is more than enough to mask the noise. Normal use (member inserted) sounds like any other vibrator, sort of a low/pulsating hum thats easily masked.
As far as use goes, it will take a few tries to get right. Although you can use it as a stroker, it's best used more as a massager. Small, short, strokes using the thumb to help press into the sucker works the best for me. Once you do find what works, it feels like electricity or shocks through your body as you build up.
Cleanup is extremely easy as well. Simply take the sides off and wash with soap and warm water. Dry them off, put them back together, and put it back on the charger.
Very innovative and effective
I liked the idea of this masturbator and I have just received mine and have used it twice. OK, so it's very expensive, but be patient with it. Do spend time reading the manual carefully as sometimes it isn't intuitive. The build has a very classy feel to it and thankfully it's a lot smaller than many other strokers. The Smart Silence is the least satisfactory feature and not easy to turn off; this matters because this feature is very noisy when 'ON'. The manual says 'Place the DryTech pack inside the DryTech stick....But HOW ? There are several narrow slits but no proper opening. It also seems to matter that you use enough lube both on the sleeve and on your penis, because you need to make a good seal at the Pleasure Air sensor area. You must also have a very full, firm erection (I am quite elderly so it takes time to achieve this). The first time I used it I couldn't make the motor stay on very long because the fit was too loose, unless I pressed down on the top of the sleeve keeping my penis in closer contact with the Pleasure Air sensor. The second time, I used more lube and was more successful but it takes a little tweaking to find just the right place for the frenulum where the seal was sufficient for the motor to stay on. Tractor loud, weak vibrations.
Sounds like a tractor. The "silent" mode doesn't work unless you apply a lot of pressure to the blow hole so you need lots of girth. Vibrations are just weak and there's no patterns. I admit I saved a long time for this device, it seemed too good to be true. Unfortunately that was the case. I can't understand the bad reviews
Wow, wowtech by name, wowtech by nature. This device and technology is simply mind blowing. That's not the only thing it blows, excuse the pun. Maybe I am lucky, the right shape and length but this toy gets straight to the point. I received one of these and had to wait a few days to get it out the box, it was packaged discrete however the internal box shows exactly what it is, so if shy that will give you a problem with disposal. The device is ready to run and simple to use, what I would say is more lube is best, use alot, then use more. Its as simple as stretching out the silicone, slide in and turn on. Position your head over the air thingy (I don't know what you would call it) and find the setting that you desire.
Just hold the device and let it change your habits. Disappointed, but I've been spoilt

The silent mode is there to make sure the Ion won't make a sound unless it made contact with the skin. It's not always working. Sometimes it will continue to work when away from the skin. However it is always recognize the skin and start working if it didn't before.
The Arcwave Ion can parts to 2 different parts. One os the silicone sleeve (Which feels nice) and the other is the plastic part which contains the Air pulse motor. Regarding the cleaning process, the charging base include something called Drytech stick. In the package you get some silicone vullet inside a white bag. The charging based is made of plastic but overall very nice. To open it you need to press the two plastic buttons. Noisy but great
Arrived in probably the most lux sex toy packing I’ve ever seen. The charging case is genius. The actual toy is quite hefty, and the silicone is really stretchy, ideal for those of us who are a bit more girthy.

Several of the things they claimed are true, with a number of caveats.
First, this toy really does use the same kind of pulsing air stimulation that the Womanizer and similar toys use. So, if you equipped with a dick like me and wanted to try that out, this really does deliver a different experience from a straight up vibrator or suction toy. However, if your main goal is to reach orgasm quickly and efficiently, this is not going to be your favorite toy.
Second, while I have only managed to cum *once* with this toy so far, I can see how they might compare it to a female orgasm. The "curve" of the pleasure is one that builds slowly and hangs out in the O-zone for a lot longer than usual- *if* you can get there. And, because it uses air pulses, you don't feel over-stimulated afterwards like you might with a stroker or vibrator.
However, as I've said, I can struggle to cum with many toys that seem to make lots of other men happy. With the Arcwave Ion, I had to work to get there. First of all it’s a brilliant idea. But bloody hell the noise. You have to make sure that the sensor inside is fully sealed and covered. If not it will just ramps up to the max. It’s noisy and not worth it.

Have proper expectations going in...
Realize that this is a very new product on the market and has only been out less than a couple months as I write this review. I've had it for 3 weeks now. First of all it is pretty loud. If you have it on the lowest setting and are covering the sensor hole it is quite quiet but I haven't been able to finish on this setting and anything above it gets loud enough that you will want to smother with a pillow. It's tricky to find the exact spot on the frenulum that will work because it's not a strong instant pleasurable feeling. If you've ever used a vibe on your frenulum to completion you kind of know the shaking orgasm you can have and this toy does something similar but it's different and really sneaks up on you. You might not think it's working then all of the sudden you're almost there. (although on highest settings it vibrates enough that I'm not sure which is getting me off the air puffs or the vibrations.)Cleanup is very easy and you just twist off the slave and clean that in water and wipe off anything on the motor part with a damp towel.
In my opinion this is a great product if you know what to expect. They put a lot of time and thought into the design but I'm sure version 2 will be even better down the road maybe with patterns and different sleeves.

Ok, but not worth the money
Firstly, this thing sounds like an outboard motor. It's anything but quiet, particularly on the higher settings. It's not LOUD, but the volume is about the same as a normal speaking volume.
The arcwave looks good, and seems to have been built to a high standard, but it's just not that great - I found it a uncomfortable to use, both in size and design; it needs to be held with the bulk of it under your shaft, which I found awkward to do, wanting to hold it more rotated to the right (I'm right handed).
Size-wise, I'm average sized, and found it quite tight and a bit on the short size.

Novel toy but not for me
I purchased this toy a few weeks back and after a few uses, I’m over it. I like the idea of the toy. It’s gotten me off a few times but I certainly have to try.

Okay have had for a short period and used twice, so this is my initial review.
Packaging was very well done and the unit itself is solid and feels well made. Had an issue finding where to plug it in to the wall charger but that was sorted soon. Package includes some desiccant material that you use inside the device to keep everything dry. Installing into its little tower was not easy however.
My first issue arose with the silicon sleeve. It is somewhat expandable but is sized for average males. I’m no porn star but at 8” long and normal girth the fit is a bit too snug. An “XL” version of the detachable sleeve would be nice.
The second issue arrives with the length of the sleeve. You need to spread a lot of lubricant on top and down the sides of your junk to squeeze inside. Since the stimulation is almost entirely focused in one spot I would have liked less sleeve to deal with.
While in use the device itself feels heavy, due to the battery pack. Since the stimulation spot is fixed you aren’t thrusting normally the weight feels odd to hold in place.

First Experience With Something Like This
It's really easy to use and works well for me on even the lowest vibration setting. This noise can be immediately made to go away (if you know how) but the startup noise cannot be avoided. I would not want to use it if I did not live alone-it is far too loud for that short period of time. It would probably wake up anyone who is asleep, and certainly anyone who is not asleep is going to hear it. Maybe the manufacturer can make it quieter in future versions.
I read a review on the web - not from Lovehoney, but by some independent guy who claims to test sex toys for a sort of occupation. He rejected it on the basis that he could only put the tip of his penis in. That is not true. First Experience with Arcwave Ion Pleasure Air Stroker

Promised more than it delivered

Not For The Girthy And Cut Men
Was really excited to get my hands on the Arcwave Ion. Based in the USA and its completely sold out over here. Credit to LH UK who shipped the package via DHL and I received it in just a few days. Excellent customer service. Unfortunately my excitement was short lived. The packaging is super slick and in keeping with what you'd find from high end tech companies like Google, Apple & Samsung. I was sceptical at first, and the hype had a bit too much of a "too good to be true" feel about it. Oddly, for a review of a sex toy, I’m going to start with the packaging! The box the ArcWave Ion comes in screams quality. It’s akin to opening a new iPhone, even down to the little card packet containing the instructions - no sticker though! It’s a fairly sizeable box, but once you’ve unpacked everything, the actual ArcWave Ion is reasonably compact.It comes with a charging container which is both stylish (in two-tone grey/charcoal) and discreet. Inside there is a hollow stick into which you can insert a gel-pack to help with drying out the toy (note - to do this you need to pull the stick straight up. The instructions don’t make this clear, and I did worry, unnecessarily, about breaking it!), and there are charging points at the bottom. Simply sit the ArcWave on the stick and it’s ready to charge, with the included micro-USB->USB-A cable. It takes about an hour and a half for a full charge, and indicator lights show how full the battery is.So onto the ArcWave itself! It’s a two piece construction, which twists apart. It is fully waterproof, though I haven’t yet had a chance to try it in the bath! The bottom half is hard plastic, and contains the ‘clever stuff’ and the control buttons (up, down and Smart Silence). The top half is a sleeve made of smooth silicone with a ribbed internal canal. The whole unit sits very comfortably in the hand.To use it, you simply lube up, and slide your penis in. The aim is get your frenulum sitting over the hole inside which leads to the suction. By default, Smart Silence is enabled, so the ArcWave will sense when you’re in the right area and turn on automatically. This sounds great, but can have the downside that if you move slightly off-line, it’ll turn off.
